Sound!

On Tuesday our Mother Goose lesson was all about sound!
What can you shake that will make a sound?
Can you find the loudest sound in the room? The softest sound?
We learned how sound waves travel.  We plucked the syllables in our name with a giant rubber band that was wrapped around a container...
We made paper cup telephones!!!  I also taught the kids about Alexander Graham Bell and the evolution of telephones!

The kids were super amazed!

We matched sounds with our new sound shakers!

Our book for the day...
Feeling the vibration of our voice box!
MGT provided us with this book this month!  This week we have been learning about Isaac Newton!

We played with our musical instruments and learned the different between loud/quiet sounds and high/low sounds...
We used our sense of hearing as we played a guessing game with our sound puzzles!
We learned about echos outside!
On a side note:
The kids have been playing Angry Birds creatively lately!
Also, they have been seriously in Lincoln Logs this week!  Check out these creations!

I started a new incentive/reward system with the kids recently, and it is becoming a HUGE hit with me and the kids!!!! They earn gems daily for good behavior. When they transfer all the gems into the jar with the sign, they earn a reward!
Here are the perks:
They work as team.
It is only positive.
They earn gems daily, but they practice patience as they wait for their final goal.
They collaborate together on a final goal.
There is no candy involved.
Lastly, it is SO EASY for me to keep up on!!!

This time they are working on earning a pajama/popcorn party! They are so excited!!!
(My goal is to have them fill their jar once every 2 to 2 1/2 weeks.)
