Sweet Smiles Preschool Doctor's Office!

This month we have learned all about our amazing bodies!  We had a blast playing this week in our doctor's office set up!  It has been so much fun to hear the kids say words like: receptionist, pharmacist, patient, blood pressure, etc.  We have fixed A LOT of illnesses and broken bones this week!

First the kids had to choose a badge that showed the position they worked in...

 These were the only toy ambulances I had, but they worked well enough...

Our x-ray station!  I crafted this x-ray box from a party light I found at Goodwill!  I also cut the ends off of tube socks and used them as pretend casts!

 Our pharmacy!  We used an empty vitamin bottle for our pretend medicine...

Our receptionist would answer calls and pretend to make appointments as she/he checked patients in.  They could also write up appointment reminder cards...

Time to play!  I did not set up any of these photos!  The kids are genuinely playing on their own!  I love every bit of it!!!!

J's Birthday and Our New Birthday Prop Box...

Many of you have already heard that my goal for this year has been to create many "prop boxes" that will be rotated in our dramatic play area.  I want to change the environment from just a play house area to a ice cream shop, post office, camping site, doctor's office, etc.  I want to enrich the children's vocabulary with a print rich environment and real life situations that they can act out.

One of our new prop boxes is our "Birthday Box!"  We will plan to take these items out each time a child in the preschool celebrates their birthday.  This month was J's 4th birthday!

The table setting includes all birthday plates, napkins, cups, and party hats...

We almost always order pizza for each birthday, so we have a wooden pizza set and a birthday cake set...

Of course a birthday wouldn't be complete without balloons...

What a cutie pie!  J requested cake for his birthday, so I made a yummy chocolate caramel cake with whipped cream topping and health bits...

I ended up buying this set of counting cakes later on to add to our prop box...

We played with it right away, and then packed it away for our next birthday!
