The End of Our Transportation Unit...

On Tuesday the kids completed their Mother Goose November journals...

Then the kids worked hard at making a Christmas colored paper chain for our Christmas countdown!
They loved pretending they were handcuffs!

We also posted a Santa with a cotton ball beard for counting down the days until Christmas!
We hung the rest of the chain from the lights...The kids even added more to this on Wednesday!
During circle time we shared again what we were thankful for, and I gave each child their "Bee Thankful" badge!
Lastly, I set out a few learning stations for the kids:
Patterning with different types of transportation...
Math story problems...

"The Wheels on the Bus" interactive poster (with wheels that actually turn!), and matching school bus Memory cards.

Lastly, we completed a "Would You Rather..." graphing activity.  This month I printed photos for each child to make their choice with.  This worked so much better and was great for displaying in the classroom for the parents to see...

Wrapping up our transportation unit...

On Monday the kids completed a few Mother Goose projects that were leftover from our transportation unit that we were not able to get to.

First I helped them write a postcard to a friend that Mother Goose provided for us...

Next, the kids practiced reading a new "I Can Read" book.  They also completed the last page of the book...

On Monday we had our first official day of snow!!!!  The kids were SO EXCITED to go out and play!
Next, the kids completed this bilingual book and practiced reading with a friend...

N also celebrated her 5th birthday on Monday!  We always order pizza and have a PIZZA PICNIC PARTY on the floor when we celebrate a birthday!  The kids LOVE it!
N requested a princess cake!
Putting her candles on...

In the afternoon the kids completed this super fun train craft with noodles...

They played with their trains right away at the train table...

The kids also completed this letter race tracing activity...
Pulling a letter from the bag without looking...
Tracing/writing the letter that was drawn from the bag...The first letter to make it to the top won!

Hot Air Balloons!

On Monday our Mother Goose lesson was all about hot air balloons!
We sang "One Balloon, Two Balloons..." to the tune of "One Potato, Two Potatoes."
We practiced the words "up" and "down" in sign language as we explored tossing items in the classroom of different weights.  We identified which items fell to the floor faster or slower than others and why (heavy vs. light).

Mother Goose provided us with the supplies to make this super cute hot air balloon craft!
I took a photo of each child ahead of time and cut them out.  We placed the photos inside each hot air balloon craft!  They turned out so adorable!!!
Weaving is a very advanced skill for a preschooler.  I demonstrated how to weave and then let each child try it.  I ended up having to help every child though.  I loved the look of the woven baskets though, so I wouldn't have wanted Mother Goose to not have included this.

The kids colored their balloon craft with oil pastels!

Mother Goose also provided us with this science experiment card...

I try to involve all of their senses.  Smelling the vinegar...

 Science is so much fun!!!

Of course we had to do it a second time!  The kids wondered if it would happen again!

On Monday we enjoyed a Thanksgiving feast for lunch!  We shared what we are thankful for.  (Thankful is the friendship word Mother Goose is focusing on this month.)

This was our book for the day...
Being that we have now learned about airplanes, helicopters, and hot air balloons, we took the afternoon to write/draw in the clouds! (Shaving cream on the tables!)
