On Wednesday our Mother Goose lesson was all about the invention of fasteners!
We started our the morning doing a creative writing activity. The kids thought about an invention they would like to create!
This guy really amazed me...
"I want to invent a robot that finds my lost toys."
Wouldn't every parent appreciate having one of these around! What an impressive idea!
MGT provided each child with a paper bag and a fun looking ruler! We went on a nature walk around the neighborhood and looking for items from nature that the kids could fit in their bag. Their job for the day was to build a structure with different fasteners and try their best to get it to be at least 3 inches tall!
I love that MGT encourages the kids to bring nature into the classroom! It is so important that they explore, touch, feel, and breathe in the great outdoors on a daily basis!
I am SO PROUD of this group!
Our table full of all sorts of different fasteners... We pretended the play dough was mud. Mud is natures first ever fastener!
For the rest of the day the kids played in different stations with different types of fasteners.
MGT provided us with these new nuts and bolts. Each of the threads were different, so it was a bit more challenging for the kids than it looks, which was good.
Nails are fasteners!
Rubber bands are fasteners!
Screws are fasteners!
Our books for the day...
The kids kept a tally count of all the fasteners they found in the classroom throughout the day...
