On Tuesday and Wednesday this week we celebrated Thanksgiving. Mother Goose has certainly made holidays A WHOLE LOT easier this year! In the past Mother Goose only provided a few ideas and one craft. Now they are including a big supplement packet. Here is what was written out for Thanksgiving...
On Tuesday morning the kids started their day with this graphing worksheet that I provided...
Mother Goose provided us with these supplies to make an Indian corn craft...
I made a corn and leaf stencil and traced it on each piece of paper for each child. It took a little time to prep, but the craft was well worth it.
The kids loved painting corn kernels with these bubble wrap mittens Mother Goose provided for us...
They all turned out awesome!
Next, I provided each child with an "I Am Thankful" mini book. The pages were as follows:
I am thankful for my family.
I am thankful for my friends.
I am thankful for my home.
I am thankful for the food I eat.
I am thankful for _____.
The kids took a lot of time to complete these books and they were very prideful. I encouraged them to take them along to their Thanksgiving celebrations and practice reading to a family member.
The kids also completed this Thanksgiving themed pattern worksheet that I provided for them...
For story time I laid out these photos and explained the very first Thanksgiving and why we celebrate it today...
I also read this emergent reader book, "Pilgrim, Pilgrim What Do You See?" I encouraged the kids to practice reading this during their free-play time.
In the afternoon I set out a few fun stations:
Station #1 - Seeds and silk leaves in the sensory table...
Station #2 - Fine motor practice with tweezers and Indian corn (this was their favorite)...
Station #3 - Fine motor practice with clothespins. Matching the uppercase letters to the lowercase letters...
Station #4 - Thanksgiving Memory! Mother Goose Time provided us with these cards last year.
Station #5 & 6 - Numbered turkeys with feathered clothespins and corn...
Wednesday's Lesson...
Mother Goose provided us with this ADORABLE "I Am Thankful" poster and feathers this year!!! I wrote what each child is thankful for and laminated each child's feather before taping it to the poster.
We recently painted all the walls, so I am restricted to hanging our artwork on one door for now. The kids completed these super cute hand print turkeys to go around our poster...
I attached this poem to the back of each turkey craft...

Next, I set out this play-dough turkey building station. The dough was homemade pumpkin spiced play-dough that the kids helped me make in October.
Our super fun Thanksgiving themed lunch...
I was sad to not have all my kiddos here on this day, but the kids loved that they could all sit at one table.
Right after lunch the kids and I made dessert! We made mini pumpkin pies with Jello-O pumpkin spiced pudding, mini pie crusts, and cool whip!
These were our books for the day...
"Balloons Over Broadway" was a great book to get the kids excited about watching the Macy's day parade tomorrow on TV!!!
Mother Goose provided us with the supplies to make these cute turkey snacks for after nap time!
In the afternoon the kids will play in the following stations:
Station #1 - Turkey Bowling! (Mother Goose provided the numbered turkeys!)
Station Number # 2 - Stuff the Turkey (Mother Goose provided the drumsticks for the sides of the bag.)
Station #3 - Turkey baster pom pom racing! The kids will blow their ball across the table with the basters. The fastest one wins the race!
Station #4 - Thanksgiving light table fun with pattern blocks, and magnetic circle discs...
Station #5 - Color-by-color-word worksheet, and color your own place mat...
