On Friday our Mother Goose lesson was all about helicopters...
We started our day working on this fun helicopter hat craft. The kids LOVED these!
So adorable! The kids had a blast acting out being a helicopter!
During circle time we sang, "The Helicopter Blades" to the tune of "The Wheels on the Bus."
Mother Goose provided these paper propellers that I and cut and prepared ahead of time...
...and this helipad...
The kids took turns dropping the paper propellers onto the helipad. They were asked to identify which number their propeller landed closest to. This was another fun Mother Goose game that teaches at the same time! The kids loved seeing the propellers spin as they fell to the floor!
The kids worked on the color orange page in their monthly journal. They made a hot air balloon and then tore up pieces of orange paper and pasted it on the balloon part of their drawing (ripping paper is excellent for fine motor skills). They also completed the sentence, "I can ride a hot air balloon with _____."
During circle time again we discussed all sorts of facts about helicopters. We also compared and contrasted an airplane to a helicopter. The kids danced to an instrumental song from our Mother Goose CD. They pretended to act out being an airplane or a helicopter.
