On Wednesday of this week our Mother Goose lesson was all about setting the table and serving guests!
We passed around our new vegetable counters and counted to 12. The person who was holding the bowl when we ended at 12, could choose a vegetable from the bowl. We did this again and again, until each child had a chance to choose. (11 & 12 are the numbers we are leaning about this month.)
A fingerplay: "Over in the kitchen, many sounds were heard..."
Mother Goose provided us with the following supplies...
The kids paired up with a partner. They took turns asking their friend to serve them a meal of different foods. The friends checked to see if their friend was correct or not when placing the food cards on the plate. This was a great activity for me to check who is remembering the different food groups!
Working on their listening skills as well!
Next, the kids worked on a couple of pages from their journal...
Our book for the day...
Our bean plants are ready to take home! Unfortunately, about half our our plants were not successful. We discussed why that might have been.
We completed our observation charts...
In the afternoon the kids practiced setting the table and serving their friends! I made place mats for the kids to use for guidance. I encouraged them to roll a die to figure out how many people they would be serving in their party!
Breakfast foods...
Lunch foods...
Dinner foods...
In the afternoon I also read this book that Mother Goose provided for us this month!
Then I set out this storytelling set....
The kids LOVED the book and storytelling set! They belly laughed a ton as they told stories together!
