On Tuesday our Mother Goose lesson was all about food for the bees...
During circle time we reviewed the color we are learning about this month: black! Each child took a turn with our black paintbrush and flew over to something black in the room as they said the "Buzz" sound. We also sang the "B-L-A-C-K" song...this is definitely a color favorite!
Next we used these cards that Mother Goose provided for us as we sang, "Look Inside the Honeycomb" to the tune of "London Bridges."
The kids worked in their workbooks...
What color would you be if you were a bee? The kids drew a picture of themselves as a bee on the cover of their new monthly journals...
They also completed the back cover of their journals. They were asked to make the butterfly symmetrical by completing the shapes on the other side of the butterfly.
Our books for the day...
Yesterday was a very rainy spring day. We discussed how "April showers bring May flowers!"
In the afternoon the kids filled this honeycomb poster with yellow Bingo chips. They drew a flower card, identified the number, and then counted and placed that many chips on the honeycomb. They drew as many flower number cards as it took to fill the honeycomb.
I took our a new CD storybook. I love seeing them all huddled together reading!
Lastly, I set out an ice cube tray, water, and eyedroppers that Mother Goose Time provided us. The kids worked on their fine motor skills as they squeezed the water into the ice cube tray. They pretended the eyedroppers were bees, the water was nectar from a flower, and the ice cube tray was a honeycomb.
