On Monday our Mother Goose lesson was all about bells...
In the morning I set out a new Lakeshore Learning numeral 1-20 learning math station. The kids were asked to place the numbers in order and then use one-to-one correspondence to place the same number of candies next to each number.
During circle time we passed around the hands-on letter X and practiced tracing it with our finger...
Then I placed the hands-on letter X's in the center of the circle. I asked the kids to try rolling a jingle bell and do their best to get it to land on the letters. If they got it to touch the letter X they make the /x/ sound! (Mother Goose provided us with the jingle bells this month!)
Next, we sang "If You're Happy and You Know It Ring the Bell..."
I set out a new number 7 counting card, a die, and all the jingle bells. I asked the kids to roll the die and try to make as many groups as they could of the that same number.
Groups of 2...
Counting to the number 7 using the counting card and jingle bells...
An extended "Count & Clip" activity on the back of the counting card...
Mother Goose provided us with the following supplies to make a bell prop!
The kids used paint dobbers to decorate their bells...
The kids used a piece of paper to protect the table when they were painting their bell cups. I encouraged them to make a picture of their choice when they were done...
This is our new drying rack from Lakeshore Learning! I CANNOT BELIEVE that I have been doing this job for over 9 years, and I have not had this! In the past, I have placed all the kids artwork on the floor of my laundry room to dry. Now the kids can interdependently put away their artwork, and I can wheel the cart where I need it! This drying rack gets me more excited than it should! Ha! :)
Next, the kids worked on the letter X page in their journal...
The kids worked on the following pages from their literacy workbook...
...and the following pages from their math workbook...
This was our book for the day! A very special story about a bell!
I bought the kids A TON of dinosaurs this last weekend! The kids have been having fun playing with them during their free play time!

Love your new drying rack! Oh the things that make teachers happy! :)
