On Tuesday our Mother Goose lesson was all about making sure all of our friends are feeling included in what we do. What an awesome topic to discuss at school!!!
I one-on-one with the kids as they arrived again. They completed a sentence in their "My feelings" book.
"I feel sleepy when... I walk a lot at the zoo."
"I feel sleepy when... I walk a lot at the zoo."
I sharing food math activity...
During circle time I placed a handful of our tangrams in a paper bag. The kids were asked to reach inside the bag and feel the shapes without looking. They were challenged to try and find a cirlce!
We sang, "One Friend, Two Friends..." (Sung to the tune of "One Potato, Two Poatoes.")
We discussed that we can have more than one close friend.
I asked two children to hold hands and walk around the room to music. Those two friends invited one friend at a time to join their "chain of friends." After this musical activity, we shared how the kids were feeling when they were not included in the chain, and how their feelings changed once they were chosen to join in.
The kids made a friendship bracelet to make for a friend! They loved this activity!!!
Next, the kids were introduced to a new board game that reinforced our new -ad word family reading skills.
The first person to collect all three colored hearts won!
We built a chain with new links! I challenged the kids to try and make a circle out of chains that was big enough to fit everyone inside!
Mission complete: These are some smart kiddos!
The kids also worked on another math activity in their math workbook...
An ending sound activity in their literacy workbook...
Also a color-by-letter activity...
This was our book for the day...
In the afternoon the kids worked on the circle shape in their monthly journal...
