We have had so much fun all week playing in our apple orchard dramatic play area!!! I hope you enjoy the pictures as much as I do!

We had directional signs, and a rack full of apple themed books for the kids to read...
Baskets of red, yellow, and green apples (each labeled), a basket of silk leaves with a rake, and a basket of tickets for pretend hay rides...
The brown sheet was put down for the pretend dirt...
Our country store! We had apple linens, an open/closed sign, an apple cafe menu, and pumpkin prices...
We integrated a math lesson into our play with a new kitchen scale! We learned that apples and most other produce are weighed and sold by the pound...
I also bought a balance scale for the kids to compare apple sizes (ex: one big apple is equal to two small apples).
Our pumpkin patch! We had a small, medium, and big pumpkin on display along with many more...
Our kitchen! Mmmm! We pretended to smell all the wonderful things we could cook with apples!
We had a Dora apple pie recipe card, and two pretend apple pies! We could cut one of the pies and serve it, and the other we pretended to make on our own!

Of course our apple orchard would not be complete without costumes! We could dress in a fall color plaid jacket, or our scarecrow costume...
During September we learned the words: it, is, & a. I typed up a worksheet for the kids to complete the sentence, "It is a ____." We filled in the blank with inventive spelling or words from our pocket chart...

I said the tickets were for the hay rides, but R and N pretended they were tickets for the "fair." It is awesome to see the kids come up with ideas of their own!

Rolling out the dough for an apple pie! Mmmm!
Yesterday we sorted our apples, but not just by their color. These were "attribute apples" specifically made for sorting multiple ways. We sorted the apples by their size, color, by ones with or without leaves, and ones with or without worms!
What incredible fall memories we have made!!!
