On Wednesday we started our day with a emergent reader mini book about counting spiders. We have been doing a lot of these lately. My hope is that the consistent exposure to sight words will help the kids learn to read!
Look at those beautiful blue eyes!
We played a dice game of "Roll and Cover." We used paint dobbers and a printable pumpkin worksheet...
We played magnetic games on cookies sheets! The kids loved these!

Match the beginning sounds to the letters...
Match the rhyming words...
The kids loved completing a game, tapping off the pieces and then doing it again...
Pumpkin measuring! We had to figure out which pumpkin was the heaviest and which was the lightest...
We cut the top off of a pumpkin and pulled the pumpkin guts out! Only about half the group actually wanted to participate with this one...
I asked S if she wanted to, and she replied "Yes." She went over to the pumpkin and looked inside and then gave me this look. I could tell with her eyes she was saying "Do I really have to?" :) I laughed at how cute she was, but I let her opt out on this one...
Pumpkin pounding time! We pounded golf tees into the pumpkin! This was great for hand eye coordination!
For story time we read "Go Away Big Green Monster" and retold the story with the matching felt pieces...
For snack time we ate ghost bananas, and pumpkin oranges!
At the end of the day we lit up our polka-dot pumpkin with a battery powered pumpkin light! I also roasted the pumpkin seeds during nap time. They were delicious!
She didn't know what to think of the pumpkin seeds at first, but ended up eating a TON! She loved them!
This little guy loved them too!
Before going home we made ghost suckers with Kleenexes!
