The Start of our "Discover the Desert" Unit: Cowboy Boots...

On Tuesday of last week we started our new Mother Goose Time theme for the month of March!
Tuesday was all about cowboy/girl boots!
Our Mother Goose parent newsletter for the month...
The weekly breakdown of the unit...
We started circle time going over our new shape for the month of March.
Because we were learning about boots, I had the kids make a square with their feet...
We sang, "The Cowboy Wears Some _____." to the tune of "Farmer in the Dell."
What sounds do you hear when someone is walking?  Can you stomp the syllables in your name?
The kids practiced writing their name on new name tags...

Stomping the syllables in their names as they drew one name tag at a time...
We discussed why cowboy/girls wear boots while we completed the following Mother Goose craft...

Why size shoe/boot do you wear?  We measured our winter boots with these new measuring cubes that Mother Goose provided for us this month.

Then the kids practiced tossing the cubes into their boots..

What else can we use the measuring cubes for?
Balancing...
Making letters...
Our book for the day...
Working in our workbooks...
