Colors in the Air

On Monday our Mother Goose lesson was all about colors we see in the air/sky...

The kids started out the morning working in their Nature Collection book.

"Flowers are pretty."

The kids searched for the hidden letters in a picture from their literacy workbook...

They also completed a color-by-number activity from their math workbook...

 

During circle time we used the magnifying glass to look for different colors in the sky on our theme poster.

We used our color birds to review our colors, and then placed the colors of a rainbow in order.

The kids danced to the song, "I See a Rainbow" from our Nature Detectives CD.  This song ended with the colors "indigo and violet," rather than purple.

Mother Goose provided us with this new AWESOME book for the month!

It is a guessing book that shows a close-up image of something from nature.

Then on the following page, it shows the whole image along with a few interesting facts.

We took a closer look at nature with a microscope that R's family brought in to share with us!  This microscope had prepared slides all ready for us!  We looked at the wings of a bee, an ant, and a mosquito's head!!!!

Mother Goose also provided us with these book for each child.  The book had blank pages for the kids to draw in. 

We took our books outside and I encouraged the kids to find something in nature that they could draw a close-up picture of, and a whole picture of.

We were not able to complete anymore activities for the day because my licensor came for her yearly renewal visit.  Everything went great!
