April...

I wish I grabbed my camera more than I did this month.  We learned and played quite a bit!  Here are just a few pics from the month of April.  We learned about "Birds and Eggs" this month!

The kids played with a GIANT bucket of feathers before gluing a few to their journal page for that day!

It was so much fun making the feather mess, but even more fun vacuuming up the mess!  The kids were so psyched that I let them use the vacuum on their own!
A "Build Your Own Bird" snack with carrot sticks, raisins, and different shaped crackers.  We used a Popsicle stick to spread the peanut butter, which made the pieces stick like glue!

Our Easter basket grass grew!!!  We examined it with a magnifying glass and "mowed the lawn" with a pair of scissors!
A handprint hummingbird project!  We used a straw for the beak!

Some birds will eat insects.  They like to snatch them off of a spiders web!  Here is an open-ended writing project we completed with a new "Spider Web Word Wall."

Fresh ham, asparagus, whole wheat bow-tie pasta, and watermelon for lunch.  The kids made letters with their asparagus!

R- really like his lunch.  Can you tell?
He sure knows how to spark a laugh!  What a "HAM!"
This was our egg in vinegar and corn syrup science project!  This was really quite fascinating!
We made a "I Spy - Touch and Feel" bag with bird seed.  We learned our numbers and practiced counting as we searched for the hidden objects in the bird seed.
Fun in a box - need I say more? :)
Even birds can sense danger.  We learned all about stranger danger.  We followed our discussion with an open-ended art project with photos of people who are considered safe in our lives.

FREE-PLAY time spent learning!!!!

DANCE PARTY in the music and movement center!
