On Thursday our Mother Goose lesson was all about cookies!
During circle time I put different shapes in a paper bag that we pretended were cookies. I asked the kids to reach inside the bag without looking and feel the shapes. Their goal was to try and remove the star shape (the shape we are learning about this month).
The kids worked on the star shape page in their journal. They used foam shapes as stamps and then completed the sentence, "I made a star cookie for...."
Mother Goose provided us with the following supplies for a Christmas cookie craft! The kids loved this!
The kids were given 3 pairs of cookies. I encouraged the kids to paint their cookies to make matching pairs, but I did not make them. Some of the kids did not want to it this way.
I asked them to write their name on the back of all of their cookies and plate. That was a lot of writing!
The kids painted their cookie platter if they wanted to.
The kids could add black stickers for mini chocolate chips, and then real sprinkles to the top of glue. They also pretended the paint was frosting!
Once again...another reason to LOVE my new drying rack!!! :)
The kids worked on the following pages from their math and literacy workbooks...
Measuring candles and placing them in order from shortest to longest...
Mother Goose provided us with these fun new manipulatives for the month of December!
I set out these shape design mats for the kids to explore with. The kids pretended the shapes were cookies!
Our book for the day...
In the afternoon I set out another Lakeshore Learning shape sorting station...
